December Women’s Start-Up Club with Tax Consultant Yasuko Mori

Does my income tax rate change if I own a small business? How should I charge for consumption tax? What can I count as legitimate expenses in running my business?

Starting a new business can be daunting, and fraught with questions. These are just a few that anyone starting, or wanting to start, a business might ask. Fortunately for the Few Women’s Startup Club, Yasuko Mori not only has the answers, but also a business philosophy that will set a budding entrepreneur’s mind at ease.

Mori is a certified tax accountant with an office in Hiroo. Her firm, Mori Tax & Accounting, operated under her newly established Seifu Co. Ltd., is tax adviser to many of the WSC members, and is growing steadily. While eighty percent of her clients operating as companies are foreigners, most of the companies are startups of younger than three years.

Mori’s goal for her customers is to leave the questions and stress of taxation to her, and focus on running their businesses. Her mission focuses on clients’ financial concerns by delivering “a feeling of relief and security” and creating community among them.

Yasuko MoriMori originally studied Engineering and Applied Chemistry at Tokyo University and enjoyed a successful career as a researcher for an American consumer goods company. After having to retrain for her new career, she feels she is able to explain taxation to clients in simple and understandable language. As well as answering the daunting questions of taxation for the new business owner, she will also tell her inspiring story of how she followed her dream and started a new career, and was able to capitalize on a niche market following the Lehman financial crisis.

Members can send any questions for Mori regarding taxation for the next meeting by Friday, December 4 to fewwsc@gmail.com with the subject line Tax questions for Mori-san.

Join us in welcoming Mori San and raising a glass to the year of WSC success 2015!
