Mirai no Mori Back to Nature Outdoor Cooking Program

Join us for a day in the outdoors at this Back to Nature program with Community Service Partner Mirai no Mori. FEW members and guests are welcome to join as volunteers in outdoor cooking and games with campers as positive role models.

Saturday June 10th / 9:10 - 15:30 / Members / Non-members Free (attendees are asked to cover return train fare only approx. ¥2000-¥2200)

Join us at this special volunteer opportunity with Community Service Partner Mirai no Mori on Saturday, June 10th. At this one-day Back to Nature Outdoor Cooking program in Mitake, Tokyo, volunteers will enjoy time with campers over a BBQ and English games.

Back to Nature programs are fun hands-on projects that complement Mirai no Mori’s core multi-day residential camps for abused, neglected, and orphaned children in Japan, sustaining the magic throughout the year. These programs provide opportunities for youth to meet may different types of role models and are a way for them to open up their horizons. The program also helps youth gain confidence and self-esteem, enjoy the healing effects of nature, and build friendships and trusting relationships.

Volunteers will interact with the children, and have fun creating an environment where youth can feel safe and be themselves with their ‘can-do’ attitude. All the children and care workers are excited for a great adventure, and look forward to spending time with you in the outdoors! Both women and men are welcome to join as volunteers!

Back to Nature Program Volunteer Voices

Seeing the youth really enjoying themselves with one another, and showing their appreciation in the affection they had for the volunteers, were the most rewarding aspects of being a volunteer.
—Aston Bridgeman from Deutsche Bank Group

It was great to see the excitement in the children’s faces when we went whitewater rafting and to join them in taking on the challenges that the environment brought.
—Daniel Boyd from BNP Paribas

Astonishing creativity and energy from the kids in nature with multinational background volunteers. The Mirai no Mori program truly enables youths to explore internally and externally. I’m so happy to be a part of the program and to share the experience with the youths, and I hope to see them again.
