Claim Your Voice | Communicate with Candor | Event Recap
December 16th 2023 @ 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (JST) (Lounge opens at 9:45 am)
What we did:
FEW’s December Peer to Peer session was facilitated by Rachel Ferguson, a Communications Coach who founded The Communications Concierge. In this workshop, we learned to harness the power of our hidden resumes. First, we reviewed our professional resumes and acknowledged our education, work experience, qualifications, and achievements. Then we focused on our second resumes and listed some of our life experiences, learnings, relationships, challenges, and motivations. Our professional resumes showcase our skills and talents, and what we can offer to a company or client. The second resume shows authenticity, honesty, and empathy for others and their experiences. Both resumes are true and the second can enhance the first.
Hidden Resume Process
- List jobs and experiences that do not appear on your formal resume
- List skills and qualities that were not featured on your CV before
Sample questions that you can ask yourself in the Hidden Resume process
- What did I gain from these experiences?
- When and where can I use personal elements of my hidden resume?
- Can we be personal and even vulnerable while maintaining strength and professionalism?
Key Takeaways
- Reframe all our experiences to be sources of individual strength and unique insight
- Acknowledge and embrace our past (even dodgy) experiences to enhance our present gifts
- Weave our history to our present and draw out the consistency across our life’s work
Facilitator: Rachel Ferguson – Communication Coach
Co-hosts: Membership Directors – Shizuka Suzuki and Christine Brown
