Ruth Marie Jarman
Raised in Hawaii, Ruth graduated with a degree in International Relations from Tufts University in Boston in 1988. She joined Recruit Company Limited and was honored to be mentored by Recruit founder Hiromasa Ezoe until 2012. She is one of the few non-Japanese holders of the Japanese Real Estate License (Takken), has published six books on Japan (in Japanese), appeared in a popular NHK English business program until 2018, and now serves as business adviser for “Easy Japanese for Work” on NHK World.
As an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce Japan (ACCJ), she served as Co-Chair for the Special Events Committee and was selected as ACCJ Woman Leader of the Year (Tokyo) in 2013. She serves on the board of the Japan Women’s Education Foundation and is outside Director for Fujibo Holdings Inc. She continues to support equal opportunity in Japan through FEW and Leadership 111 (a Japanese organization for women executives). Founded in 2012, Jarman International KK focuses on assisting Japanese companies and regions successfully welcome international visitors. Jarman currently employs 15 remote staff members for a nimble organization that can withstand market challenges and easily respond to opportunities as they arise. Ruth is also a popular speaker who has conducted numerous talks about Japan’s internationalization each year.
