INTRODUCTION

Please read these Terms of Use (“Terms”) carefully before using the fewjapan.com website (“Website) and services, including but not limited to events and membership (collectively, the “Services”) provided by For Empowering Women (FEW) Japan (“FEW”, “us”, ‘we”, “our”). By accessing and using our Website and Services, you agree to comply with these Terms.

CONDITIONS OF USE

FEW will provide its website and services to you, which are subject to the terms stated below in this document. Every time you visit this website, use any service provided by us, or make a purchase from us, you accept the following terms. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the website or use our services. This is why we urge you to read them carefully.

FEW Japan has the sole discretion to change or replace any part of this agreement. You are responsible for periodically checking this agreement for any changes. Any new Service additions or enhancements are subject to these terms. You consent to any such changes by continuing to use the FEW website and/or services.

MODIFICATIONS TO TERMS

FEW reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Website or Services after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

PRIVACY POLICY

Before using our website, please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • By communicating with FEW through emails, comments, forums, or our website, you consent to receive electronic communications from us. You acknowledge that all notices, disclosures, documents, and announcements will be sent by email, either in our newsletter or in a separate email announcement, and that this satisfies any legal requirements that such communications be in writing.

MEMBERSHIP

  • Membership details, including types, requirements, fees, and benefits, are outlined on the FEW Japan website and are available upon request.
  • Members may join at any time but note that the FEW Japan year runs from July 1st to the following June 30. Your membership will automatically renew on July 1st of each year unless cancelled ahead of time. 
  • Membership is valid for the specified period and is non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • FEW reserves the right to modify membership fees with Board approval.

USER ACCOUNT TERMS

  • You may not sign up for more than 1 account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. FEW Japan is not liable for losses due to account breaches.
  • Automated account registration is prohibited.
  • You must not use our Website or Services for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
  • We reserve the right to terminate your account if you violate any of these Terms.

ACCOUNT TERMINATION OR CANCELLATION

  • Upon membership cancellation, all associated data will be deleted within 3 months and cannot be recovered.
  • If you cancel your membership before the end of your membership term, you will not be charged after the end of the current membership term or asked to renew at a later date.
  • FEW Japan has the right to suspend or terminate accounts with or without cause at its discretion. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

EVENT PARTICIPATION AND CANCELLATION

  • You participate in the events at your own risk
  • FEW is not responsible for injuries, losses, or damages arising from event participation.
  • FEW may cancel an event due to low enrollment, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.

REFUNDS

  • Unless specifically stated on registration materials, refunds will only be issued for an event if requested at least 5 business days ahead of the event.
  • Cancellations and refund requests will be accepted in writing only to the Finance Director at treasurer@fewjapan.com and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline.
  • Refunds apply to payments made through the FEW website. 
  • FEW is not responsible for refunding bank or credit card processing fees.
  • Refunds for cancelled events will be issued for the event price listed on the website. 
  • Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event.
  • We will only issue refunds on credit card payments in cases of fraud, overpayment, or cancellation if requested by the listed cancellation date. In case of fraud, the customer must submit a signed affidavit from the bank or credit card-issuing agency.
  • Purchases made by credit card will only be refunded back to the credit card used to make the payment.

CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  • Users may post content, provided it is not defamatory, illegal, or harmful.
  • FEW may remove or edit content at its discretion.
  • Should a party claim that any content on the Website is an infringement of their intellectual property, FEW retains the right to disclose the source of that content.
  • Material on the Website may be provided by members, guest speakers, Board of Directors, Corporate or NPO Members, or third-party suppliers as deemed useful to the FEW Japan community. Views expressed by such parties do not represent the views of FEW as a whole.
  • By submitting content to FEW, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and transferable license to use it, with the exception of personally identifiable data, as covered in our Privacy Policy.

WEBSITE ACCESS AND USAGE

  • You are granted a limited license to use the Website for personal purposes.
  • Unauthorized modification, copying, or distribution is prohibited.
  • FEW may modify or discontinue Services, including events, online content, and membership plans, at any time without liability.
  • Continued use of the Website and Services implies consent to the Terms.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  • The Website and Services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
  • FEW is not responsible for system downtime, data loss, or security breaches.
  • Users must not introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful content.
  • FEW is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from Website use.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age to register for our Services, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

GOVERNING LAW

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be resolved in Japanese courts.

INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify and hold FEW, its directors, officers, and affiliates harmless from any claims or damages arising from your use of the Website or Services.
