Event Recap: An Afternoon of Embroidery, Conversation, and Community

On November 30th, FEW Japan held a crafting & potluck workshop. We ate, embroidered and shared stories.Around our table were women from different parts of the world, each carrying her own history, journey, and her own reasons for being in Japan. Our conversations flowed into topics of relationships, work, and navigating life in another culture. There was laughter, reflection, honesty, and understanding — exactly what our community is about. In many ways, the embroidery mirrored our conversations: slow and intentional. We were all quite proud of our creations! We also shared a potluck lunch! Eating together while our hands were busy with thread and fabric made the whole experience feel timeless — like something women have always done, across cultures and generations.Thank you to everyone who attended this intentionally small gathering: meaningful events aren’t always the loudest or busiest ones. They are the ones where people leave feeling lighter, more seen, and quietly renewed. This afternoon was a great reminder to all of us that community is built in moments, shared stories, warm meals - and some slow stitching!
