The upcoming JMEC, Japan Market Expansion Competition program starts in November, but FEW will be collecting applications for two (YES TWO) eligible FEW members to participate on full scholarship. JMEC has been a corporate member and supporter of FEW Japan for many years.
What is JMEC?
JMEC is a Tokyo-based business training program since 1993 and supported by 18 foreign chambers of commerce in Japan. It is the Japan Market Expansion Competition.
How does it work:
The program has two parts.
Part 1 allows you to participate in a lecture and workshop series with experienced executives, business owners and entrepreneurs as instructors. Think of it like a mini-MBA.
Part 2 teaches you how to research and write a complete professional business plan for a real business client. Students who complete both parts will be awarded an official Pearson Assured JMEC program certificate.
JMEC alumni have been promoted and have advanced their careers due to their JMEC experience and skills.
Interested members in good standing, and who have been a FEW member for at least 1 year, may apply for the FEW Japan scholarship. The chosen FEW Japan scholarship recipient must agree to share about their experience in JMEC to the FEW Japan membership through an article (FEW website) and/or sharing at a FEW event during the year. Applications are now CLOSED.

Attend one of the JMEC Alumni Events or information sessions to speak with Alumni and learn more about the program. Two years ago, the FEW Japan scholarship recipient, Christine Hernlund and her team placed in the winning category for the 2021-2022 year. Another participating FEW Japan member, Chinyere Okoli and her team received an honorable mention.
This is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best lecturers and then put this into practice by creating a business plan for a real client while working with a team environment. Yes it will be a commitment but who knows where this will lead you.
